A kangaroo cannot jump if its tail is off the ground. It needs its tail for pushing off.

是指它要靠尾巴反推而跳跃是吗.?如果是这样的话,前面一句是不是有问题呢?难道当它跳跃起来的时候尾巴也不会离开地面吗?

这句这样改一下是不是更合适呢?

A kangaroo cannot jump without its tail. It needs its tail for pushing off.

我想教材中的“A kangroo cannot jump if its tail is off the ground" 应该没有问题，这句话主要是强调袋鼠是依靠尾巴接触地面的推力而跳跃的（呵呵，好像有点像撑杆跳），如果改成您所说的那句话，可能所要强调的内容就没有了。

下面这句话是直接从一个外国网站上的内容中摘录的：

A kangroo can hop 30 feet in one jump. They, however, can not jump unless their tail is touching the ground.

我想这句话应该和课本中的那句表达的是同样的意思。
