Footprints In Your Heart

By Eleanor Roosevelt

      Many people will walk in and out of your life,

      But only true friends

      Will leave footprints in your heart.

      To handle yourself, use your head;

      To handle others, use your heart.

      Anger is only one letter short of danger,

      If someone betrays you once, it is his fault;

      If he betrays you twice, it is your fault.

      Great minds discuss ideas;

      Average minds discuss events;

      Small minds discuss people.

      He, who loses money, loses much;

      He, who loses a friend, loses much more;

      He, who loses faith, loses all.

      Beautiful young people are accidents of nature,

      But beautiful old people are works of art.

      Learn from the mistakes of others,

      You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

      Friends, you and me.

      You brought another friend.

      And then there were three.

      We started our group,

      Our circle of friends

      And like that circle,

      There is no beginning or end.

      Yesterday is history,

      Tomorrow is mystery,

      Today is a gift,

      That's why we call it the present.

心灵的印记

〔美国〕埃利诺·罗斯福

      人的一生中不断有人走入走出,

      然而,唯有真正的朋友,

      才能在你的心灵之中留下印记。

      把握自己,须动脑;

      对待他人,得用心。

      愤怒离危险仅一步之遥,

      如果有人背叛你一次,那错在他;

      如果此人背叛你两次,那责在你。

      伟人交流思想;

      常人谈论生活;

      小人搬弄是非。

      失去金钱者损失固多;

      失去朋友者损失更重;

      失去信念者则失去一切。

      青春之美乃是上天恩赐,

      老者之美方为艺术杰作。

      要学会从他人的过失中吸取教训,

      人生短暂,哪能事事亲历。

      你我结为友,

      你再带一位,

      由此成三人。

      如是始成群,

      形成朋友圈。

      正如一个圈,

      无始也无终。

      昨日已成历史,

      明日尚属未知,

      今日乃是天赐,

      是以称为“当下”。

We started our group,

There is no beginning or end.

如是始成群,

形成朋友圈。

正如一个

无始也无终。

Timwu 建议:把“圈”改为""。理由不必多说。
